What is TRAFFIC HELL ?

In 'Traffic Hell', unleash chaos in a city where accidents are a rarity by embodying a Demon capable of influencing drivers' emotions. Turn tranquility into a chaotic spectacle by causing spectacular crashes, while navigating the countermeasures of a system determined to maintain order. Your mission: disrupt the too-perfect harmony of this city with cunning and strategy.

History and goal of the project :

Traffic Hell is a student project created at ICAN during our second year. We were given the theme 'critical state' and tasked with creating a prototype related to this theme. Initially, we wanted to design a game focused on controlling traffic to prevent chaos. However, we soon discovered that creating chaos on the scene was much more entertaining. Thus, we pursued this idea. We needed the city to react, necessitating systems responses involving bulldozers and tow trucks. Moving forward, we plan to develop more varied system responses with different patterns.

Visuals and Sound work :

Traffic Hell blends the solemnity of urban traffic with a whimsical demonic twist. Our game features visuals primarily in black and white, emphasizing a serious, ordered city with realistic soundscapes. However, the player, embodying a mischievous demon, introduces chaos into this structured environment, depicted with distinctly cartoonish sounds.

The game begins in a calm and monotonous setting, but as the player starts to sow disorder, we introduce comic-style visual elements such as exaggerated effects during car collisions, smoke, and the actions of the little demon, transforming the game into a lively, joyful, and chaotic atmosphere.

Challenges and Stakes:

  • The scene can contain a high number of elements, creating a complex environment for the player to interact with.
  • The transmission of chaos needs to be intensely felt by the player, making the gameplay experience both engaging and dynamic.
  • The cartoonish aspect is crucial for depicting the player's actions, adding a layer of humor and exaggeration that contrasts with the game's more serious tone."

This description combines the context and mechanics of your game, highlighting both the initial setup and the evolving gameplay dynamics.
